    What is Laparoscopy?Laparoscopy surgery operation

    Laparoscopy is used to describe minimal invasive surgery where the use of a laparoscope (a thin lighted tube with a camera) to identify the area of problem and deal with it through removal or required procedure. It is usually done to check for or remove abnormal growths such as tumour or treat conditions such as pelvic inflammatory disease or fix a hernia in a minimally invasive way.


    Laparoscopic Surgery is also known as keyhole surgery. There can be many types of surgery that falls under this category but the main element that is the same in all of them is the use of a laparoscope to aid in the surgery. The most commonly performed procedure under the category of laparoscopic surgery is laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
     

    Procedures

    There are two main formats for laparoscopic surgery: The Da Vinci system and the Bonati system.

     

    Da Vinci System

    In the Da Vinci System, multiple incisions are made and the surgeon controls the surgical procedure through a Play Station type console to control the surgical devices, vacuum pumps, or cutting tool located at each incision site.

     

    Bonati System

    The Bonati System useds only one small incision and through the incision, one 5-function control device is used with vacuum pumps, cutting tools, saline solution that are activated depending on each other attached to a camera which enlarges the surgical viewing of the area on a TV monitor. It was designed and usually used in spine surgery.
