    Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)

Tummy Tuck Abdominoplasty Surgery What is a Tummy Tuck?

Tummy Tuck or Abdominoplasty is a part of the procedure in cosmetic surgery that focuses on the abdomen area and firming of the tummy through the removal of excess skin and fat. It is popular amongst those that have undergone major weight loss or pregnancy and have excess flaps of tissue and skin.

While abdominoplasty helps in getting rid of the excess skin and tissue and giving a greater aesthetic appeal to the physical body, the surgery usually leaves a permanent scar most found across the hips in the bikini line area that can be seen without clothing. Candidates for a tummy tuck may include those that have undergone a massive weight loss and needs to lose the flaps of leftover skin.

    Procedures of Tummy Tuck

The procedure of a complete tummy tuck can take from an hour up to five hours while a partial abdominoplasty can take anywhere between one to two hours.

    Complete Abdominoplasty

A complete abdominoplasty starts with an incision that is made above the pubic area from side of the hip to the other and an incision that is made to detach belly button area from surrounding skin. The skin is then removed from the abdominal walls and the muschle fascia walls are tightened by stitches and the excess fat and skin are removed and the old belly button is taken out through a new hold and stitched n place. Sometimes this can be accompanied by further liposuction to help in defining the abdominal contours and any excess fluid is drained and the wound is dressed.

    Partial Abdominoplasty Tuck

A partial abdominoplasty or a mini abdominoplasty is when a small incision is made and the skin and excess fat from the lower abdomen are removed from the muscle fascia walls. Liposuction may be used to help contour the transitional zones and the flaps are sutured back together.

    Endoscopic Tummy Tuck

Endoscopic Tummy Tuck is a type of mini abdominoplasty where many small incisions are made along the pubic bone or around the navel area and the surgery of removing the excess fat and tissue are performed with the help of an endoscope camera tube through the incisions.
