    Medical Treatments

Medical treatments can be defined as measures trying to remedy a health problem, usually following a diagnosis. A treatment may lead to a cure, but sometimes only improve and amend the problem for as long as the treatment is continued. Good examples of this are AIDS treatments that slow down the harm done by HIV and delay the mortality of the disease.

    Sub specialties

Medicine is a very broad field, encompassing many different sub specialties; such as cancer treatments, gynecology and pediatrics. However, within medical circles, there are two main areas. These areMedicine and Surgery. Medicine refers to the practice of non-operative medicine. To practice in this area preliminary training in Internal Medicine in required. Internal medicine is concerned with the diagnosis, management and nonsurgical treatment of unusual or serious diseases. Surgery, on the other hand, refers to the practice of operative medicine and treatment, and most subspecialties in this area require preliminary training in General Surgery. Surgery has many subspecialties, for instance orthopedic surgery, pediatric surgery and neurosurgery.
