Novasans travels to Thailand for Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Medical Tourism FAM trip

medical tourism FAM trip ThailandAccording to the Department of Health Service Support in Thailand, 2.24 million foreign visitors came to Thailand for medical tourism purposes in 2011. This influx of international patients generated 97.8 billion Baht (3.18 billion USD) in income. In 2012, the number of medical tourism visitors is expected to rise to 2.53 million. These figures have for a long time been questioned in the industry, as there is yet lacking a consensus as to the mode of calculating and defining medical tourists. The TAT has for several years recognized the growth and potential in the medical tourism industry, and will now take further efforts through organizing the Thailand Medical & Wellness Tourism Trade Familiarization (FAM) Trip, running from Sep 10-15 2012.

 

Medical Tourism in Thailand

The event will showcase Thailand as one of the leading destinations across the world for medical, dental and wellness tourism. Over 150 international medical tourism facilitators and staff from the medical travel world along with health insurance companies will attend the five days trip, which starts with a one-day trade event at the Centara Grand at Central World in Bangkok. The event will feature a country briefing to the land of smiles, business meetings, a networking dinner and exhibition booths. Medical tourism Hospitals in Thailand and Medical Tourism Clinics in Thailand will also partake to exhibit and present their services and facilities.

The remaining days, the medical tourism delegates will be trying out services available to medical tourists and visit spas, hospitals and clinics in and around Bangkok. The TAT Governor, Mr. Suraphon Sbvetasreni says: “Thailand’s has established itself as a global leader in medical tourism. People from all over the world put their trust in Thailand’s health and wellness providers, thanks to their internationally-accredited medical facilities, advanced technologies, excellent service and affordability. This fam trip will help to increase momentum for the Kingdom’s medical tourism sector, reinforcing Thailand’s position as the world’s preferred destination for health and wellness holidays,”
